Transport by inland barges is a great asset for the trade between the port and its hinterland.

We have developed a range of services to support tanker barges in their port activities. Our terminal in the 4th Harbour Dock has 1500 meters of quay and 4 discharge points to welcome you 24/7 for slops disposal and tank cleaning as well as nitrification and de-gassing.

Slops disposal

Your tank washings can easily be disposed of in our waste water treatment plant. We have the ability to take in oil contaminated slops, slops with solvents, high or low flashpoint waste. Our most recent addition includes separate acceptation tanks for high and low pH waste waters.

Tank cleaning

Whether you need a tank cleaning by butterhead washing for a product change, or a full de-mucking to prepare for ship yard cutting and welding works, our teams are ready to do the job with minimal waiting times. Our references include the most challenging cleaning jobs such as “black” to white”, cleaning rust, cleaning caustic soda layers etc.

Degassing

EU is banning degassing of tanks through open air ventilation. We have developed an array of degassing technologies – cryogenic, gas washing and torching – to provide for environmentally friendly degassing equipment. With the cryogenic equipment, we can even recuperate tons of “vaporized” cargo through the operation.

Quay services

Our terminal has 5 places that can berth barges up to 200m length and 7m draft, including gas tankers. These berths can be made available for waste disposal, for transshipment, for berthing, for maintenance etc…

With 1.500 meters quay length, our terminal is fit for all your ship-to-ship and truck-to-ship transshipments.

Our terminal has also been authorized to accommodate LNG bunkering activities.

Garbage

Ships produce vast amounts of garbage – Marpol V. Under the EU indirect fee system, ships can dispose these in Antwerp without additional charges (*). MAC² is authorized collector in that system and organizes 24/7 collection by barge, by truck, by drop-off container and at our terminal.

Engine sludges, slops, and EGS waste

Collecting and treating liquid maritime waste – Marpol I, II, IV and VI – waste, is at the core of our offering. Our 3 tanker barges operate 24/7, and are supported by truck collection for small quantities. Beneath the traditional sludges and slops, we also handle the more difficult low flash slops, pre-washes and scrubber waste. All waste is treated at our treatment plant in the 4th harbour dock, with maximum recycling of valuable components.
